Frequently Asked Questions

How do I determine what size I need?

It is highly recommended that you set-up your pedals and take measurements. Click here for a step by step guide.

For visual reference, you can see several photos of set-up boards in the customer photo gallery.

Do the pedalboards have power supplies?

No. I believe that using a separate power supply provides the ultimate flexibility. There are several good pedal power supplies currently on the market, including:

  • Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2   www.voodoolab.com
  • Visual Sound One Spot        www.visualsound.net
  • Carl Martin Big John            www.carlmartin.com
  • Dunlop DC Brick                 www.jimdunlop.com
  • Godlyke PA-9 Power-all       www.godlyke.com

Also, the Boss TU-2 Tuner and NS-2 Noise Suppressor pedals are both capable of powering other pedals (when used with an adapter and daisy chain cable). Visit www.bossus.com for more details.

What is the turnaround time for orders?

Because all NYC Pedalboards are built to order (and in considerable demand), there is usually a brief wait period. You can find the current time frame clearly stated on the online ordering page.

    Do you do rush orders?

No. All orders are built on a first come, first served basis, and all customers are treated with equal importance.

What is the main difference between the standard and butterfly latches?

Both types of latches work very well. The butterfly latches are considered to be a little more secure, because they require a full turn to open, therefore, eliminating any possibility of accidental opening (although, I have never heard of a case where the standard latches came open accidentally).

Can I add a 2nd level riser or a pedal mount later or purchase them separately?

Yes. The 2nd level riser and the pedal mounts attach with Velcro, so you can add one at a later time or purchase them separately (to purchase these items separately, please email or call).

Can the pedalboard/cases be checked as baggage on an airplane?

    It is not recommended.

Is there any way to attach the pedals other than Velcro?

Velcro has become the standard method for attaching pedals to pedalboards, and it is my opinion that there is really no better way. For those that just don't want to put Velcro on their pedals, you can custom order extra thick foam in the lid, and the foam will help hold the pedals in place. There is also a product called the "Mounty-P" made by Nobels, these are little metal plates that attach to the screws on the bottom of the pedals and allow you to screw the pedals to the board.
